Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ's

Product

Q: why does a product like clay have a best before date?

A: current law requires that we supply one

Q: how long do the vegetable oils last?

A: that depends on the conditions that they are kept under. We recommend a cool, dark place, even the refrigerator. Note that natural unrefined oils do contain plant waxes and these may solidify when exposed to cold temperatures, they will melt on returning the oil to room temperature. This is normal and does not indicate any problem with the oils. We supply a best before date to give a general indication of the life span before unpleasant changes start to take place in the oil. It is however best bought in small quantities and used as fresh as possible.

Q: why is there residue or cloudiness in my vegetable oil?

A: our oils are filtered, but not subjected to any more processing. The filtration does not take out some of the finer plant material and that may be held in suspension and over time precipitate out forming a residue at the bottom of the bottle.

Q: how do I know that the products you say are organically sourced, are in fact so?

A: you don't, you only have our word for that. However, we believe that people who deal with us know that our word can be relied on. Licensing would add a substantial premium onto our products without adding any quality.

Ordering

Q: Is there any minimum order?

A: No we do not apply a minimum order

Q: Should I enquire about products not on your website product list?

A: Yes, we can sometimes source these for you or suggest a supplier

Pricing

Q: Your prices seem more reasonably priced when compared with other suppliers?

A: Yes, we have put a lot of effort into our computer systems and this saves on man power, we also are not currently licensed as organic or for that matter registered with a myriad of other approval agencies some of whom charge very high fees. We also try to use simple and easy to use packaging that works best with our products. We try to avoid the temptation of lots of glossy brochures and extra outer cartons etc. both to contain costs and to consider the environment.

Q: What about taxes and duties?

A: These may be applicable to your order if it is shipped outside of the UK or EU, the customer is responsible for paying these. Please check the customs requirements in your own country for more information.

Shipping

Q: Do you ship to other countries?

A: Yes, countries in Europe and the EU

Company

Q: You claim to care about the environment and the local farmer, but you import some of your products?

A: Yes, we are working to reduce that. We do hope that the way forward is by creating enough of a demand to make it worthwhile for farmers here to supply us with our requirements.
